Business Spotlight: Coastal Cloth Baby & Co.

If you haven’t been yet, Coastal Cloth Baby & Co. is an adorable baby & children’s boutique serving Brevard County you should definitely check out.  There are so many things to choose from, but being a hippie at heart myself, the thing I love most is owner Ray Ann strives as much as possible to carry products made in the USA, that are environmentally sustainable and come from companies practicing fair labor standards.  Plus it’s all really stinkin’ cute!

Coastal Cloth Baby & Co. recently relocated from Indianatlantic to Historic Downtown Melbourne, so I stopped in to see the new space and ask owner Ray Ann some questions about the new shop to share with you.

It looks amazing in here!  So how are you liking the new space?

We moved in April, so we are mostly settled in, but I’m having fun rearranging things to figure out what I like and works best.  I’m so happy having the extra space allows us to offer children’s clothing up to 5T  now, and we’ve expanded our line of toys and gifts.  Plus being a business owner on Melbourne’s Mainstreet is such a great experience, both because of the community of business owners here and the customers.

You have your first little one on the way. Congratulations!  I’ve always been curious though, what made you want to open a baby boutique before becoming a mom?

This actually all started because of an interest I had in opening a cloth diapering service.  At the time I was doing my research about the industry, I realized there was no baby boutique in the area and the rest is history.

What are your best selling items?

Definitely our Hevea natural rubber duck.  He’s adorable, he doubles as a water toy and teether, and most importantly he doesn’t have a hole which eliminates the risk of mold growing inside.  Our swaddle blankets come in lots of different patterns and are super popular, and of course being so close to the beach, our little people swimwear.

What product do you carry that you wish more moms knew about?

Probably our organic kimono bodysuits with built in gloves.  They are so perfect for sleeping and there’s less fuss during changing because they don’t have to be pulled over the baby’s head.

Are you still offering gift registries?

Absolutely!  I call them wish lists and anyone is welcome to come pick out all their favorite things and create a list.  You would be amazed how many people I have stop in to buy a gift on their way to a baby shower, so this definitely helps them out! Lol!

Anything else I can share about the shop for you?

Yes!  I am wanting to spread the word that the shop is open to any parents in the area who need a clean, comfortable spot to feed or change their little one.  No purchase necessary.  🙂

As it happened my good friends brought their baby home from NICU the same day I stopped to visit Ray Ann, so I couldn’t leave without picking up a welcome home gift for them.  My friend cried when she saw this pillow I gave her.  Coastal Cloth & Baby Co. really does have the best gifts.  <3
