Easton’s Newborn Session: When He Was Tiny

I have a confession.  I’m not great about updating my blog.  There’s lot of things I love about my job, but blogging just isn’t one of them.  Normally I would not point out my own shortcomings, especially not in writing for everyone to see…but since this is a small town…and you might recognize these clients…and it’s possible this baby is walking…and he might be coming in next week for me to photograph his first birthday cake smash, I thought I might as well just put it out there.  Hey, he’s not one yet!  Lol!  So one of my goals for 2018 is to be better about blogging, and you may see a few more newborns on the blog coming up who might not be so new anymore.  Try not to judge!

Anyway, I should have blogged this a long time ago, because I really do adore this family.  When Jon and Makenzie hired me to photograph their maternity and newborn sessions, I didn’t know them all that well.  It turns out we have a ton of mutual friends and I am so happy I’ve been able to get to know them over this last year.  We’ve shared parties, boating trips and most recently, their beautiful wedding!

Jon and Makenzie are sweet, fun and super laid back, so their maternity session was a photographer’s dream.  There were lots of laughs, and the fact they were willing to get in the water was awesome.  This little park near Viera was a new location to me and I love the way it turned out.

Makenzie also has ties to Maryland (it’s a small world) and they even named their firstborn Easton, after the town there where they fell in love.  Aww!  So one of the first things I planned was a little touch from back home to add into his session.  If you love Maryland, you can check out some of my other MD inspired images here.

Makenzie had requested we use my custom made plane prop to accent the nursery, and this little aviator rocked it!

Sports themes are a pretty common request at the studio.  Makenzie is a huge Cubs fan and she ordered a large print of the top portrait to hang up in the house.  We threw in a Bucs setup so Jon wouldn’t feel left out.  😉

Such a gorgeous family!  If you think Easton looks like his daddy in these pictures, just wait until you see his birthday pictures (hopefully I blog that session before he starts kindergarten!).  It is CRAZY how much they look alike.

Sleepy posed newborn images are what I’m known for, so I rarely do any lifestyle/in-home newborn portraits.  But when I found out the wall mural in Easton’s room had been painted by my friend, and super talented artist Valerie, I knew it had to be part of Easton’s newborn album.  Their amazing pup Trooper did his best to steal the show (he kind of did) and I completely fell in love with him.

You can check out more of Valerie’s gorgeous work on her Facebook page here.  Not only does she do wall murals, but her pet memorial pieces are the sweetest thing ever.

Time to get back to planning Easton’s car themed cake smash session…
