Even after 8 years, coming from the Baltimore area, it is still strange to me living in a small enough town where everyone doesn’t necessarily know everyone, but everyone you meet knows someone you know. It’s actually pretty cool to have my circle of friends overlap in so many different ways. In this particular case, my client Shawn actually found me on Instagram (check me out @jennifer_shaver_photography). Not only is she one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, but as it turns out, she also happens to know my friend Stephanie (who’s nephew will be getting his newborn portraits taken at my studio when he arrives next month!). I think my favorite part of working with this family was how excited Daniel was to incorporate his love of surfing and motocross into his son’s session. He also is an avid hunter and had no idea about our plans to take the deer picture after he’d left. I think it’s pretty safe to say they will have plenty of hobbies to keep them busy as a family.
Deegan’s room is yellow and blue, so I always try to incorporate some images the compliment the nursery decor.
Shawn ordered one of my custom frames to hang the teddy bear image on the left above his crib.
Shawn had one more surprise up her sleeve. This was her grandfather’s police chiefs shirt and she asked me if I would photograph her boy with it. She messaged me to tell me her mom cried when she saw the picture. That’s what I do. I make memories into art. And it’s the best job ever!
