I basically hit the client lottery when Maria and Rico chose to hire me as their newborn photographer. I’m pretty lucky to have fantastic clients in general, but I absolute adore this family. This May will be 10 years since we moved to Florida (how did that happen???), and as much as I love our little town of Cocoa Beach, I still get homesick on a pretty regular basis. The fact that Rico also happens to be from the Baltimore area originally, and Maria lived there before moving here, means we have plenty to talk about. I was absolutely thrilled when they were excited to have me incorporate a Maryland theme into the newborn session for their first baby!
If you were to poll those of us from Charm City about what we love most about our state, it’s a pretty good bet pickin’ crabs, the Baltimore Ravens and our beloved “O’s” are going to make the list. Baby RJ in the crab bushel is now one of my all time favorite images, and of course the Old Bay and crab mallet came straight from my kitchen. His parents are hoping he’s going to play baseball when he’s older, but I think he’s already looking pretty comfortable holding a football!
It wasn’t planned, but as fate would have it, little RJ ended up being born in Baltimore which made these little Maryland touches all the more special. His mom and dad have nicknamed him Prince Baltimore (love!) and Maria brought this cute little crown along for his session. It was pure luck (fate again?), I had just picked up the blue wrap and fur from one of my favorite vendors, Custom Photo Props and the adorable little overalls from No. 2 Willow Lane while I was in Nashville for the annual PPA Imaging convention the week before. They could not have all coordinated together more perfectly!
The 4th of July is Maria’s birthday, so she had specifically asked for an American flag image to be worked into the session. Because he’s a baby rock star, RJ even held the flag for me!
This family has such amazing smiles! Even RJ could help, but show off his. 🙂 I hope their session made you smile too!
